How to Jump Start your Blog

All good businesses strive for growth. But new digital marketing and advertising techniques leave many business owners struggling to stay ahead of the curve.

If you want to keep up with your competition, building a strong online presence is absolutely essential. Understandably, this can seem like an overwhelming task, especially to someone who is already working around the clock.

The Benefits of Blogging

Even though there are many key components involved in creating a powerful online presence for your business, blogging is perhaps the most important.

Why is blogging so important? For starters, the stream of fresh content gets you noticed by the search engines, resulting in a site that shows up in search results.

Also, blogging allows you to engage with your online visitors in a new and meaningful way that will build their trust and connection with your company.

Obviously, having a functional website that supports blogging is the first step. Once you have this and know how to use it to your advantage, you will not only increase your customer satisfaction but it will increase your profits as well.

How to Jump Start Your Blog

If you're ready to improve your business with blogging, there are certain steps you must take to ensure your success.

1. Post Quality Content

Quality and relevant content is the foundation of any successful blog. You have to know who your audience is and give them the information that they are looking for.

Ask your sales or services team to compile a list of FAQ's and turn each question into an easy-to-read blog post. Doing so will create a nice-sized stockpile of content that will answer the questions that already know many of your visitors have.

This will also help to build trust in your customers because they will know they can always count on your business to solve their problem and answer their questions.

2. Collect Followers

Make it easy and enticing for your visitors to follow your blog posts by explaining to them what benefits they will receive from hitting the “follow” button.

Consider adding a weekly e-mail newsletter, special discounts, or membership in your calls-to-action at the end of each post. This will increase engagement and build an audience who is invested in content.

3. Become a Guest Blogger

If you want to increase your exposure, try reaching out to other businesses in your industry by offering to write a guest post for their blog.

Start by finding blogs related to your field that you find interesting and helpful. Take note of the tone and style of their posts, then contact the owner once you have some ideas that you think would be a good fit.

The more popular the blog, the more exposure you and your business receives. Don't be afraid to reach for the stars with this one.

4. Don't Forget SEO

The algorithms used by search engines have changed dramatically in recent years. Simply using the same keyword over and over doesn't cut it anymore.

If you're a SEO novice, do a little research to find the latest tips and tricks. Some basic SEO elements include using long-tail keywords, meta-descriptions, URL's, page titles, etc.

Optimizing your blog for SEO is admittedly a tedious process but it's also critical to building a successful blog.

The truth is, there are endless ways to create a powerful online presence for your business. The steps listed above are only the tip of the iceberg. But the investment of time and effort is well worth it when you consider the limitless benefits you'll enjoy in the long-run.
